Richard I (6 September 1157 - 6 April 1199) was king of England between the years 1189 to 1199. He is often also called Richard the Lionheart (UK: Lionheart, France: Cœur de Lion) for his bravery. He was the third son of Henry II of England, and seize the British throne from his father by working with Phillip II of France in 1189. Richard I-known as one of the leaders in the Crusades, in which one of his success in war is the capture of Cyprus to support the Crusaders. after arriving in the city of Acre Richard then took Acre in 1191 and then Richard began directing his troops to invade Jerusalem. Richard troops walk through the coastline between the towns of Acre and Jaffa when traveling to the city of Jaffa army troops ambushed Richard and Saladin battle took place near the city of Arsuf won by Richard and Saladin's forces retreated to Jerusalem to survive. Richard finally entered the city of Jaffa without a fight because the city was burned by Saladin.
