Valley of Flowers, as intoxicating as the name suggests, is a UNESCO world heritage site located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand in India. This is a very beautiful valley situated at an altitude in the Himalayas. Renowned for exceptional charm and vast grasslands filled with hundreds of species of flowering plants, this coupling of the ground at the top of Bhyundar Ganges is also a national park. Valley of Flowers National Park spread over an area 87.5 sq km, and received national park status in 1982.
You can reach the Valley of Flowers National Park of Govindghat near Joshimath, and if you are coming from Rishikesh, you will pass several important cities before reaching Govindghat. Devprayag, Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Karnprayag, Chamoli and Joshimath are some of the major cities of Govindghat trip to Rishikesh. Once you reach Govindghat, you cross the Alaknanda River and began the journey on a small journey along the Ganges Bhyundar leading to Ghangharia, about 13 km from Govindghat, and the Valley is located only 3 km from Ghangharia.


Valley of Flowers in Uttarakhand is known for nearly 300 species of wildflowers bloom naturally, many of which have medicinal properties. During July and August, the Valley seems to be watered with color as hundreds of flowers blossom full extent, and shades of color change every 15-20 days. In late September, the Valley of Flowers began experiencing changes in weather conditions. As autumn comes to the starting end and snowfall in the area, vegetation growth slowed and then stopped completely for six months. From mid-March to mid-April, hundreds of varieties of plants begin to grow again, and the Valley of Flowers, in addition to flowering plants, also serves as the home of various species of animals and insects. Some of these are butterflies, honey musk, and snow leopard. You can also view the Himalayan bear in the Valley.
Valley of Flowers National Park, beautiful natural place, is one of the core zone of Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve. Frank S. Smythe and RL Holdsworth believed to be the first to have reached this valley. They are a British mountaineer who got here by chance in 1931 after returning from Mount Kamet. Frank S. Smythe was so fascinated with the exquisiteness of this area that he visited the back alley Flower Valley later in the year 1937. He also wrote a book about this valley, which was published a year later in 1938, titled "Valley of Flowers".

 

Valley of Flowers is located at an altitude ranging from 3200 m to 6675 m, and the Alaknanda, Ganga and Laxman Pushpavati are the main rivers in the region. Pushpavati River, originating from Tipra Glacier, flowing through the valley. parvat Gauri (6590 m), Rataban (6126 m), Kuntkhal (4430 m), Saptsring (5030 m), and Nilgiri Parvat (6479 m), around the Valley from different sides.
Valley of Flowers also found a place in the Hindu mythological stories. Local people believe that fairies inhibit this valley and out of their shelters at night. Valley of Flowers National Park is easy to access and therefore visited by many tourists, botanists and the environment every year. However, visitors should also follow some rules while trekking in the valley, like, nothing is allowed to do the night camping in the Valley. Collect or destroy plant and animal specimens, alive or dead, is also prohibited in the Valley.
